2 semester hours

We find ourselves at a technological crossroads in education. Digital technologies are shaping teaching and learning, and with the unprecedented pace of change it becomes challenging to see beyond the next junction. We begin to focus on the technology – the next, newest, fastest, and updated devices and software – and lose sight of how our knowledge of pedagogy should be driving the use of technology. Educators must make critical decisions about how, when, and why they will use technology. How does technology enhance Christian pedagogy? How can educators leverage technology to promote flourishing and shalom? What frameworks should guide teaching and learning with digital technologies?

This workshop allows us to deepen our understanding and use of educational technology through readings, videos, discussions, virtual field trips, and hands-on technology explorations. The workshop will place an emphasis on understanding current frameworks and models for thinking about educational technology. We will also explicitly consider how technology affords novel opportunities for enhancing Christian pedagogy.
