MEN'S SOCCER
For the second time in his career, Calvin College senior A.J. Dufendach has
received MIAA Player of the Week honors in men's soccer. Dufendach has been
named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week after a strong week of play in the
midfield that helped Calvin clinch a share of the MIAA title and a berth in the
upcoming NCAA III Tournament.
A senior from Grand Rapids and a graduate of Grand Rapids Forest Hills
Northern High School, Dufendach dominated the midfield as Calvin defeated
Olivet, 4-1 last Tuesday, and then tied Hope 1-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Dufendendach assisted on Calvin’s only goal against Hope, and also
demonstrated fine ball control and solid tackling on both ends of the field.
A year ago, Dufendach was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week.
Ranked 21st nationally, Calvin is currently 14-3-1 overall and 11-0-1 in MIAA
play. The Knights will close out their regular season schedule this week with a
Wednesday night game at Adrian (6:00 p.m.) and a Saturday home contest against
Trine at 2:00 p.m. Both games will air via Stretch Internet broadcast at:
