Jump into the Seminary Pond
Friday, February 14, 2013 | 5:30 p.m.
2014 marks the 16th annual jump into the Seminary Pond. Over two-thousand people have jumped at least one time during the history of this historical event.
See how 3 alumni persuaded President Le Roy to make his first plunge last year! Watch here.
- Sign-in at the Seminary Student Center on the Friday of uKnight Week.
- Say the pledge with all the other jumpers.
- Fully submerge yourself in the pond.
- Grab your Cold Knight Club towel and run for a hot shower (or another jump).
- Psst: Plan to wear shoes the entire time.
All those who participate in the uKnight Week Sem Pond Jump for four (or more) years become a member of the Golden Towelers, an elite group of ruckus raisers. Each jumper receives a Golden Towel and has their name placed on our hallowed roll.
All those who wish to become members of the Cold Knight Club recite this oath, led by Rick Treur, before the plunge into the Sem' Pond begins:
We promise to leap into the Sem Pond,
Surrendering ourselves to the icy waters,
And embracing our falleness as creatures.
And when the waters cover our entire body
And our feet are mired in muck,
We will be given the grace
To emerge from the depths
As lifelong members of the Cold Knight Club.
Having attained our reward,
We will serve our fellow humanity
Knowing that we have gone
Where few dare to tread.
All for one,
one for all.
