NEW! A Choral Retreat with Pearl Shangkuan and the Calvin Alumni Choir

Come for a time of musical and spiritual renewal with Dr. Pearl Shangkuan and the Calvin Alumni Choir! A sought-after clinician all across the U.S. and internationally, Dr. Shangkuan will work on vocal/choral and rehearsal techniques with the participants, with the Calvin Alumni Choir serving as the core of the choir. Participants will learn anthems that will be sung at a short midday prayer service to conclude the retreat. A music packet and refreshments are included in the registration fee. Choir directors are welcome to an hour long roundtable discussion with Dr. Shangkuan following the retreat (12 Noon - 1:00 p.m.). This event is open to all choral singers and choral directors. Cost: $7/person

Winter Concerts • Souvenirs: A Musical Journey

Join the Calvin Alumni Choir on a musical journey that spans the globe. Music from Venezuela, Bulgaria, and Japan will be part of the fare, along with magnificent Bach motets for double chorus and inspiring Russian church music. These concerts will also feature guest guitarist Carlos de la Barrera, Calvin guitar instructor, and the world premiere of the newly commissioned Magnificat Gloria by Latin America's most prominent composer, Alberto Grau.
