Event Details
Perhaps you’ve read about the “Calvin Around Town” series of events in Spark magazine – gatherings of Calvin alumni and friends at intriguing places in the West Michigan area. The Southeast Wisconsin Alumni Chapter is pleased to offer you our own edition of “Calvin Around Town” and we have something Grand Rapids doesn’t: the impressively remodeled Milwaukee Art Museum!

On Saturday, March 18, we will not only be guided through this awesome building by Calvin professor of art Henry Luttikhuizen, but we will also be filling this structure with song, as the Calvin College Capella, under the baton of Dr. Joel Navarro, will be presenting a concert of beautiful music as part of the ensemble’s spring tour!

This is a unique opportunity to tour and understand the importance of the Milwaukee Art Museum’s permanent collection, as Professor Luttikhuizen highlights key works and important features of the addition designed by Santiago Calatrava.

In addition, we have the chance to hear about the exciting things happening at Calvin from President Byker and, to make a grand day complete, hear from the 40-voice Calvin College Capella, composed of advanced singers from all areas of study. Dr. Joel Navarro was appointed as the choir's fourth conductor in 2002. This year’s Capella has students from 16 states and provinces and 3 other countries.
