Dr. Larry Gerbens, from Calvin’s advancement division, talked about his extensive art collection which focuses on the Prodigal Son.

Dr. Gerbens and his wife, Mary, started their art collection in the mid 1990s. Inspired by the prodigal son parable, they continued to collect numerous original art works and writings on that theme. Their collection now has a permanent home on Calvin’s campus and is a living testament to the “art of forgiveness.” In 2009 a book entitled The Father & His Two Sons: The Art of Forgiveness, which features the collection, was published.
