Tradesmen have been hard at work refurbishing and rebuilding the original decorations that adorned the theater located at 30 North Division Ave., in downtown Grand Rapids. When the theater reopens, the Greek revival interior will look the same as it did more than 100 years ago.

Informal hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served from 6 to 7 p.m. in the reception lobby of the Civic Theatre. Following the reception, join us in the Majestic Theater for a welcome by Calvin President Gaylen Byker and an overview of the Calvin Theatre program and preview of upcoming productions by Calvin’s own Director of Theatre Michael Page.

Executive and Artistic Director of the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre Bruce Tinker will share some highlights of the renovation project and will introduce a short film — Grand Performance…Majestic Moments — which will provide some additional insight and history of the theater.

Following the film, our guests will be treated to a cabaret performance by the Theatre Project, which will guarantee to have you laughing and smiling all night.

Be among the first to view this grand renovation, discover a bit about the history of Grand Rapids’ own theater, learn about Calvin’s fine theater program and share some laughs with other Calvin alumni and friends.
