Calvin Around Town.

Petra: Lost City of Stone

On Wednesday, April 13 or on Friday, April 15, check-in registration and a Middle Eastern-themed reception is at 6 p.m. in the Sultan's Tent, located in the Prince Conference Center parking lot. Prince Conference Center executive chef Patrick Mitchell will prepare the cuisine for this reception, which includes these items:

MENU:
Exotic fresh fruit display featuring mangoes, papaya,
pineapple, kiwi, grapes, etc.
Hummus with pita
Antipasto platter featuring marinated olives, mushrooms, artichokes, assorted cheeses, crackers, dried fruits, and nuts
Skewers of roasted chicken breast seasoned with cinnamon, regional herbs and spices, and served with harrisa sauce
Spanakopita - layers of phyllo dough and sauteed spinach and onions with feta cheese, served with tzatziki sauce on the side
Traditional baklava garnished with fresh berries
Freshly brewed regular & decaffeinated coffee, herbal tea and punch

Following this reception, entrance to the exhibits will be at 7:00 p.m., 7:30 p.m. or 8:00 p.m., based on your preference and/or the availability of each time slot.

This evening will feature special guests Bert de Vries, professor of history and archaeology at Calvin and former director of the American Center for Oriental Research, and Sally de Vries, collector of Jordanian clothing and accoutrements.
