"Beauty of the Spirit" reception & book signing

“Beauty of the Spirit” is an exhibition of the work of renowned African-American artist and illustrator Kadir Nelson. Nelson is the illustrator of children's books such as the Caldecott Honor Award-winning Moses: When Harriet Tubman Led Her People to Freedom and Henry's Freedom Box.

Book Grant Program

Criteria: current Calvin College black students who:
(1) will have completed two semesters by June 2008;
(2) are in academically good standing at the college; and
(3) will be enrolled as a full-time student for the 2008-2009 school year

Application deadline:
Applications are due by Tuesday, April 15. In addition, students must be available for an interview with chapter leaders on Saturday, April 19.

Awards: Book Grants within a range of $200 to $400 to be used at the Calvin Campus Store for books and materials that are academically required. The number of awards depends on available funds; at least 5 grants of $200 each will be awarded.
