Four Calvin science students have landed prestigious research awards.

Calvin volleyball players are teaching local middle-school girls a holistic approach to health.

Four Calvin professors from four different disciplines were numbered among "The 300 Best Professors" from the Princeton Review.

Sophomore physics majors are researching asteroids and stars through Michigan Space Grant Consortium undergraduate fellowships.

Cathy Guiles, formerly of the staff of Chimes, recently competed on three episodes of Jeopardy.

Students from the organization Liberty in North Korea plan a multi-part event to spotlight the situation there. And a Calvin contingent will learn the Korean way of prayer.

Festival of Faith and Writing this week

The Festival of Faith and Writing finally begins Thursday, April 19, 2012! Tickets are still on sale for the plenary sessions: Jonathan Safran Foer (April 19, 7:30 p.m.), Marilynne Robinson (April 20, 7:30 p.m.), Shane Claiborne (April 21, 10:00 a.m.) and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (April 21, 7:30 p.m.). Tickets are $10 ($5 students) and available at the Calvin College box office. The plenary by Gary Schmidt on April 19 at noon is free!

Spring Oratorio concert

The Calvin Oratorio Society will present their spring concert, Haydn's The Seasons, Friday, April 27, 2012, 8 p.m. The Calvin Capella will be joining the Oratorio Chorus for this performance.  A preconcert talk with Calvin Stapert will be held in the Covenant Fine Arts Center Recital Hall at 7 p.m.
