Calvin-Wire: October 15, 2009 -- Vol. 9, No. 20
Daily chapel option
You can join the campus in daily worship as chapel is now available live on their Web site every day. The schedule for chapel is also found there.
Members of the Calvin community will be gathering to pray at 7:30 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in room 220 of the Chapel Undercroft. This group of students who will lead the prayer time would like to invite everyone who wants to be actively praying for the college to join them. They would also like to know how they can best pray for you. So either join them or send your prayer requests to firstname.lastname@example.org. No prayer request is too small.
Recommend a student. And until December, they can apply for free!
We know that friends and alumni of Calvin are in a position to recommend Calvin to a prospective student and/or parent. We value and encourage your efforts to help us identify prospective students. Use the student referral page to submit that information to us or contact us at email@example.com (616-526-6142).
And if these prospective students apply before December 1 (January 1 for Canadians), the admissions office will waive the application fee! Find out more on the admissions Web site.
Did you hear about ArtPrize, an open art contest which took place in Grand Rapids this fall and recently concluded? Read the recap of ArtPrize with professor of art Lisa Van Arragon, and view a photo gallery (with video!) from the ArtPrize alumni event with Rick DeVos '04. There is also plenty of information found on the ArtPrize site with photos of the winning entries, video from the exciting closing event and more.
Every Student Challenge
Between now and June 30, 2010, multiply your gift to Calvin through the Every Student Challenge. In this challenge, every gift—big or small—counts. Together, our gifts throughout this fiscal year can secure an additional $100,000 challenge grant.
What's the catch? The college must receive one new or upgraded gift to the annual fund for each Calvin student enrolled during the 2009-10 school year. So whether you give $10 or $10,000, your gift to Calvin will help us meet our challenge goal—and provide a more affordable education for all Calvin students.
