Residence hall service auctions

In the spirit of thankful living and giving, Calvin students were recently spending money on all sorts of services to aid local organizations that work with children.  Over the years, Calvin students have raised thousands of dollars for those groups by selling each other premium parking spaces, snow-scraping services and hugs in residence hall service auctions.  Find out more about what students were offering this year.

Wikki Stix contest results

Students looking for a distraction from the daily grind found it in the Campus Store's Wikki Stix contest.  Using sticks of wax-covered string, students created simple designs with a package or two, like the one pictured at left, or more elaborate ones, which required many packages of Wikki Stix---and several hours of work.  Read the story about the Wikki Stix contest, or view the photo gallery of the contest participants and winners.

The season of Advent

The season of Advent, a season of waiting, is designed to cultivate our awareness of God’s actions—past, present, and future. In Advent we hear the prophecies of the Messiah’s coming as addressed to us—people who wait for the second coming. In Advent we heighten our anticipation for the ultimate fulfillment of all Old Testament promises, when the wolf will lie down with the lamb, death will be swallowed up, and every tear will be wiped away.  Read more about this on the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship which has many resources available for worship planners and worshippers alike.
