Imagine a culture so taken by the forces of westernization that only 35 fluent speakers of its language still exist. Now imagine the same culture singing and dancing and making masks and costumes that reflect what was almost lost. These are the Alaskan Alutiiq people, whose story was documented by professsors Ellen Van't Hof and Robert Prince in "Finding their own Dance: Reawakening the Alaskan Alutiiq Arts."

America's Best Value College by The Princeton ReviewCalvin Named to 2009 Princeton Review

Calvin has been included in the 2009 edition of The Princeton Review's annual college guide Best 368 Colleges. Only about 15 percent of the nation's four-year colleges are included in the guide which was first published in 1992.

Lectures in Science, Philosophy and Belief Available

A faculty development seminar for Chinese professors and postgraduate students was recently held at Calvin and featured such distinguished guests as Alvin Plantinga (Notre Dame, Philosophy), Owen Gingerich (Harvard, Astronomy), Richard Swinburne (Oxford, Philosophy), and John Polkinghorne (Cambridge, Physics).  You can now download their lectures.
