Calvin Alumni Association Chapter Scholarships are sponsored by Calvin alumni for students coming to Calvin from their local chapter area. These scholarships are available to all students from a given area, not just children of alumni. This information will be updated as information is received from chapter leaders. Arizona - Phoenix Chapter
Criteria:
1. Applicant must be a high school senior who has applied to Calvin and lives in the Phoenix area.
2. Applicant must answer the questions on the application to the best of their ability.
3. Applicant must supply a transcript which shows their two most recent years of education.
4. Two written references must be submitted on behalf the the student.

Arizona - Tucson Chapter
Criteria:
1. Applicant must be a high school senior who has applied to Calvin and lives in the Tucson area.

4. Applicant must include two letters or recommendation, one from church and one from school.

Black Alumni Chapter
Criteria: current Calvin College black students who:
(1) will have completed two semesters by June 2010;
(2) are in academically good standing at the college; and
(3) will be enrolled as a full-time student for the 2010-2011 school year

Awards: Book Grants within a range of $200 to $400 to be used
at the Calvin Campus Store for books and materials that are academically
required. The number of awards depends on available funds; at least 5 grants of $200 each will be awarded.
British Columbia Chapter
Criteria: The BC Chapter will offer one $500
scholarship to an enrolled, first-year student for the 2010-2011 school
year. This scholarship is based on a candidate's (1) Christian character
and personal involvement in the life of their community and (2) desire
for a Christian higher education. This scholarship will be awarded (by mid-March 2009) on
a demonstrated and competitive basis, with consideration being given to
individuals who display evidence of leadership, volunteerism and service
to the community, with a preference to those students not receiving another
Calvin College scholarship.

California - Bay Area Chapter
The Bay Area Chapter (generally defined as zip codes 93600-95999) will not be offering scholarships this year. They will, however, be offering some support for Fridays at Calvin trips when arrangements are made with the chapter leader in advance of the trip. Contact Mary Schrotenboer for details.
California - LA/Inland Empire Chapter
Criteria:
1. Applicants must be current high school seniors who plan to attend Calvin in Fall 2010.
2. Students must live in the LA/Inland Empire Chapter area (generally defined as zip codes 90000-91899, 92200-93199, 93400-93499) to be eligible for this scholarship.
3. Students may opt to apply for the volunteerism award or the academic scholarship and must indicate on the application form the awards for which they are applying.
4. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.

California - San Diego Chapter
Criteria:
1. Applicants must be current high school seniors who plan
to attend Calvin in Fall 2010.
2. Students must live within the Southern California Chapter area (generally
defined as zip codes 91900-92199) to be eligible for this scholarship.
3. The Volunteerism Scholarship is based on a consistent pattern of volunteer
service, character, and requires a minimum GPA of 3.0.
4. The Academic Scholarship is based primarily on scholastic ability and
character.
Students may apply for both the Volunteerism and Academic Scholarships.
Separate forms should be used, but the same responses may be used where
information is repeated.

Colorado Chapter
Criteria: In order to be eligible for a scholarship,
students must send in the application no later than February 2, 2010.
The Colorado chapter is looking for students who are in good academic
standing, a leader in their church community, and will continue these
attributes at Calvin College.

Florida - Gulf Coast Chapter
Criteria: Award(s) goes to a first year student. Academic performance and community involvement are the primary factors considered. For students from the Gulf Coast, Fla., area who
will begin Calvin in fall 2010. Students must live within the Gulf Coast
Chapter area (generally defined as zip codes 33500-33999, 34100-34299
and 34600-34699) to be eligible for this scholarship.

Florida - South Chapter
First-year Student Scholarships:
Criteria:
1. For first-year students entering Calvin in fall 2010.
2. The committee considers GPA, Christian commitment and character, involvement
in service opportunities, participation in extracurricular school activities,
and participation in church and community activities.
3. Students from Palm Beach and surrounding counties (Dade, Broward, Martin,
St. Lucie, etc.) are eligible to apply.
Awards: One or more scholarships of $1000; the number of scholarships depends on funds available.

Sophomore Student Scholarships:
Criteria: Accumulated GPA of at least 2.0. Students from Palm Beach
and surrounding counties who will be sophomores at Calvin in 2010-11 are
eligible to apply.
Application process: Write a brief letter of application, including
your name, local Florida address, major(s) and a copy of your most

Illinois - Chicagoland/Northwest Indiana Chapter
Criteria:
1. For first-year students from the Chicagoland area. Students must live
within the Chicagoland Chapter areas (generally defined as zip codes 46300-46499 and 60000-60899)
to be eligible for this scholarship.
2. These scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis, with consideration being given to scholastic achievement and to individuals who display a life of faith as evidenced by commitment in the areas of leadership, volunteerism, and service to the community.
3. The scholarship committee will consider only applicants who have not
already received a significant award from another source, such as a National
Merit Scholarship, a Calvin Presidential Scholarship, or a Peters Scholarship.

Japan Chapter
Criteria: Any student resident in Japan (regardless of nationality)
planning to attend Calvin College for the first time in the fall of 2010,
as either a freshman or a transfer student, is eligible to apply. The
award will be based primarily on the following two factors: 1) academic
excellence and 2) need. In addition, consideration will be given to demonstrated
Christian service, personal character and professional promise. While
the award is generally academic in nature, strong consideration will be
given to students not receiving other academic scholarships from Calvin
or other sources.

3. The main criterion for these Service Scholarships is a record of volunteer
activity or service in your church, community, school or elsewhere
4. Applicants must attend a high school in Kent County (or, if home-schooled,
live in Kent County)

3. Students must attend a high school in Ottawa, Muskegon, or Allegan
Counties (or, if home-schooled, live in one of these counties) to be eligible
for this chapter's scholarships.
4. The scholarship committee will consider only applicants who have not
already received a significant award from another source, such as a National
Merit Scholarship, a Calvin Presidential Scholarship, or a Peters Scholarship.
5. Students interested in also being considered for the Brian DeWall Lakeshore
Chapter Scholarship (see criteria) should
