Registration Process

The registration process is only for those organizations wishing to continue their status as an official Calvin College student organization. Any new student organization must complete the chartering process. The registration process is a simplified version of the chartering process, and begins in late March. Being a recognized organization gives the organization access to college funding, leadership development and connections to other student leaders.

The registration process is an important process that will take some time.
The materials submitted should have input, or be completed by, the leadership that will serve in 2008-09.  New leaders will have different insights and vision for the organization and they should be included in the process.

Each returning organization will register with the Student Development Office as an official student organization. 

Each organization is required to submit:

A registration form
An advisor consent form
A self-evaluation (completed by current leadership)
A proposed budget (see example)
A student leader commitment form

Once these materials are received, the Coordinator of Student Organizations will complete a formal evaluation for each organization, and make a recommendation for approval to the Student Life Committee.  Those organizations recognized by the Student Life Committee will then be recommended for funding to the Student Senate Finance Committee.  The Student Senate Finance Committee will make final decisions on all student organization budgets.
