Current Opportunities (Updated Weekly)
Below you will find just a few of the many ongoing and one-time opportunities we have for service-learning.
If you would like to get involved, feel free to contact the individual listed at the end of each specific opportunity. To find other ways to serve, search our opportunities database, contact the S-LC, or stop by our office in the Commons Annex.
Some of our current opportunities:
We want to see service-learning through your eyes! Submit your original pictures of service-learning, recent or not, and you could win a $10 gift card to the campus store! We will choose one winner from each of the following categories: service-learning for class, service-learning independent of class, photos featuring kids, photos featuring adults, and most “liked” on facebook.
Submit your photos to servicehyphenlearning@gmail.com with the heading “Photo contest”. In the body of the message, include your name, whether your service-learning was for class, the organization with which you are service-learning, how long you have had a relationship with the organization, and anything you would like us to know about your experience. Please also turn in a signed photo release (found at http://www.calvin.edu/admin/slc/forms/photography_publicity_release.pdf) to the Service-Learning Center. Submit as many photos as you like! Enter by April 30 to win!
Eastown is again looking for volunteers for a "Spring Cleaning" project. Volunteers would be asked to help sweep sidewalks, pick up debris, etc. on Saturday, 28 April at 4:00 p.m. They plan to meet at Wolfgangs and then divide the Eastown business district into groups.
