Attention North Channel and Northern Ontario (Algonquin)trip participants:
As of June 1, anyone over 18 is required to have a passport or passport card to cross the border into Canada. This can be a fairly long process, so you will want start the process right away. For more information regarding this change, please visit the government's website: http://travel.state.gov/passport/ .
Accommodations
For the Wilderness part of your Orientation
Accommodations range from rustic cabins to a tent in the great outdoors. Tents are provided.
For the PASSPORT part of your Orientation
If you stay on-campus during PASSPORT, you will be placed with a roommate and suitemates in a residence hall for students only. Your parents will have their own room in a separate residence hall for parents.
Please note: There is no charge to stay in the residence hall for students or parents. If you choose not to stay in the residence hall your PASSPORT fee will not decrease.
What to Pack
For the Wilderness part of your OrientationTrip-specific packing lists will be provided prior to your trip. Extensive gear is not required for Wilderness.
For the PASSPORT part your Orientation
Pillows, linens and towels will be provided for your stay in the residence halls.
Things you will need to bring with you are:
- Toiletries
- Fan (optional) - We do provide fans that can be rented for a small fee on a first-come, first-served basis
- Comfortable shoes
- Casual clothing
- Umbrella (optional)
- Backpack
- Alarm Clock (optional)
Meals
For the Wilderness part of your Orientation
All meals during the trip are included—except for the two meals during travel days. You are encouraged to bring $25 for those meals.
For the PASSPORT part your Orientation
All meals are served in Knollcrest Dining Hall and require your PASSPORT nametag for entrance. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided on your first day; breakfast and lunch are provided on the second day.
