TRANSITIONS is a three-day program for new first-year and transfer students who are starting Calvin for the spring semester. As an adult family member, we invite you to attend sessions designed for you during one of the afternoons. The remainder of the program is designed for your student.
At TRANSITIONS you will:
- Attend an opening luncheon
- Attend a panel discussion and video on Calvin College
- Take a campus tour
- Participate in a Q&A reception with the President and Vice Presidents
- Watch a closing video: “Calvin: Yesterday and Today"
- Enjoy dinner
Accommodations
Since TRANSITIONS provides only a half-day program for families, we do not offer on-campus housing. The Prince Conference Center is available for a limited number of rooms and a fee. If you call to reserve a room, mention that you are with the TRANSITIONS program. There are also off-campus options nearby.
How to Register
TRANSITIONS takes place January 29-31, 2009. TRANSITIONS for Families is held during the afternoon of January 29.- Students will register themselves for TRANSITIONS through the mail. They will receive the registration form for TRANSITIONS after they have been admitted to Calvin. At that time they can also register you and any additional family members.
- We welcome all family members to TRANSITIONS, but please note the program is designed for adults. Younger family members are welcome to accompany parents, but we are unable to provide programming for them.
- A $125 orientation fee will be charged to your student’s account in early February. This fee covers your student and up to two adult family members. Each additional family member is $25.
