The Commuter Advisory Board (CAB) puts together fun and educational events for all off-campus students. We seek to keep off-campus students connected to the Calvin community through various events. If you have any ideas or suggestions please come to our meetings in the Student Senate Meeting Room from 4:30-5:30 p.m.:

4:00 p.m.

Sudoku Tournament: 1st ever 88th annual Co-sponsored by CAB and the number "5", this event is free and open to all Calvin students. The winning prize to the top sudokian at Calvin is a $100 Campus Store gift certificate (2nd place gets a bag of marshmallows or a package of Oreos).
Wednesday, February 24 7:00 p.m.
"White Man's Burden": A film shown in the Bytwerk Theatre in conjunction with the Grassroots Community. Free.

Saturday, February 27 9:30 a.m.

Cannonsburg Ski Day: Commuter students may sign-up in the Student Development Office by Friday, February 26. For the first 25 students that sign-up, the cost for a 4-hour lift ticket will be just $5! Rentals of skis and blades/boards are extra. Meet at Cannonsburg at 9:30 a.m. sharp!

Soupd'Jour with Chef's Tim and Bob: Move over Rachel Ray and Emeril! Learn how to make 3 different soups in just 20 minutes, then enjoy eating them with fresh gourmet bread. Event is just $2, but space is limited to just 25 students! Sign up and pay in the Student Development Office.

6:00 p.m.

Commuter Bowling Tournament: At Eastbrook lanes. Sign-up in teams of four, or as an individual who will be placed into a team of four. The individual and the team with the highest scores (after rolling two games) win prizes, including the the coveted "CalvinPin" bowling pin and their choice between 100 donuts or a free oil change for their vehicle.

Landlords or Landmines: Dynamite Tips on How to Deal With Landlords: This event is free and will be in the Alumni Board Room. Bring your friends and your questions, as two landlords and an expert on landlord/tenant rights, will be on hand to speak, offer advice and answer any of your questions regarding living off-campus and dealing with landlords.

St. Patrick's Day Decorate Your Own Cookie: Stop by the Student Development Office to enjoy some free delicious cookie and delectable fellowship!

80's Rock Wall Climb: Come join other commuter students in climbing the rock wall. Meet at the rock wall in the arena! Wear 80's clothing and get a free specialty drink from the Fishhouse!
Wednesday, April 14
5:00 p.m.
Manners and Maintenance program: Come learn some basic car maintenance including how to change a car tire (5:00-5:30 p.m.) and also which fork to use at a nice meal (etiquette instruction with a $20/plate meal 5:30-6:30 p.m.). Cost is $5/commuter student; but space is limited to just 20 students! Sign up and pay in the Student Development Office.

Spring Banquet at The Bluff: This will be a co-sponsored event with CAB, Knollcrest East and Glen Oaks East and will include a delicious buffet dinner and dance. Get dressed up. Come alone or bring a date. Tickets available in the Student Development Office for just $10/person or @/20!
