Youth Ministry & Pop Culture Pre-conference

As somebody who works with teenagers, you know the power of music and the need for teens to discern faithfully the role music has in their lives. To help you in your work, we would like to invite you to a pre-conference event just for youth leaders – and it’s FREE! Simply select the pre-conference option when you register for the Festival.

On April 7, we will spend an afternoon considering different ways to help your youth discern how music can support and nurture their faith. Our special guest will be John Van Sloten, founding pastor of New Hope Church in Calgary, Alberta. Pastor Van Sloten has been a leading voice on how Christians can best discern their engagement with culture and recently published a book on the topic, The Day Metallica Came to Church: Searching for the Everywhere God in Everything. A free copy of the book is included with your pre-conference registration!

Co-sponsored by Calvin’s Institute for Christian Worship and the Congregational and Ministry Studies Department. Please contact Todd Cioffi at cioffi[at]calvin[dot]edu or 616-526-7797 for more information.
