Ryan Lott

Son Lux is Ryan Lott. After studying composition at Indiana University School of Music, Lott earned a reputation as a versatile and zealous collaborator. He spearheaded multi-disciplinary "performance parties," composed music for modern dance companies and collaborated with musicians across genres. His works have been performed throughout the US and Europe, including the Guggenheim's Works & Process Series in New York City, and the World Saxophone Congress in Slovenia. In the cracks of time and energy between collaborations, "Son Lux" was born out of an urge to make an album of his own. What Lott wove together over four years in his attic studio is At War With Walls and Mazes, an impressive debut which earned Son Lux the title of "Best New Artist" and "#1 Greatest Unknown Artist of 2008" by NPR. Ryan moved to New York City in 2007 and has since become a sought-after remixer, reimagining the music of Beirut, Headlights, Sole, Anathallo, Takka Takka, Jamie Lidell, My Brightest Diamond, and Nico Muhly, among others.
