The winner of FFM 2007's bandspotting is Ryan Lott, aka Son Lux. After bandspotting, Ryan went on to release an album that earned him numerous critical accolades, including Best New Artist of 2008 by NPR's All Songs Considered. He also went on to accept a job at Fluid NY, composing music for broadcast ads. In this workshop Lott discusses the rewarding challenges, as well as the inherent creative and moral dilemmas, of writing ad music. He'll address the important role advertising plays in the shifting music industry, play some of his favorite ads, and talk about his experience earning a living in music and juggling his day job with his growing success as Son Lux.
