Introductory Latin Dance
Tasha Paul
Come participate in a FUN, one-hour workshop on the basic steps to four Latin style dances: salsa, bachata, merengue and cha cha, with emphasis on the salsa. The basic step of salsa dancing was likely derived from the rumba, often called the grandfather of the Latin dances. The rumba originated from Cuba and was first seen in the United States around 1920. Salsa dancing, as we know it today, was mainly developed in the Latin Quarter in New York City. Please wear comfortable clothing and either dance shoes (with soft soles) or socks. You must be able to turn easily, so avoid shoes with rubber soles.
