Advanced Placement Exams: Chemisty Department

Students who have written an Advanced Placement (AP) Examination in Chemistry conducted by the College Entrance Examination Board are eligible for college credit in General Chemistry on the following basis:

(1.). With a score of 5 on the AP exam, a student receives college credit for Chemistry 103-104.

(2.). With a score of 4 on the AP exam, as student receives college credit for Chemistry 103 and is invited to write an exemption/credit examination for Chemistry 104, this examination to be administered by the Chemistry Department upon application by the student.

(3.). With a score of 3 on the AP exam, a student does not receive credit for Chemistry 103, but is invited to write an exemption/credit examination for Chemistry 103 or for Chemistry 103-104, this examination to be administered by the Department upon application by the student.

(4.). Students who have completed AP Chemistry with a score of 3 or higher but are not continuing in chemistry in college, will receive a core exemption in physical science (Chem 110 equivalent) on the basis of their high school work.
