The Office Of Alumni & Public Relations exists to promote public awareness, understanding and support of Calvin College by communicating the mission and purpose of the college through publications, events, media contacts and relationship-building with individuals and organizations among Calvin's diverse constituencies. Specifically, this includes alumni relations, community and church relations, parent relations and media relations.

Alumni and public relations is headed up by director Mike Van Denend '78 (who also serves as the Executive Director of the Calvin Alumni Association), while community and church relations falls under the capable auspices of community relations director Carol Aukeman Rienstra '70.

Alumni and public relations also includes publications coordinator Lynn Bolt Rosendale '85 (managing editor of Spark and Knightfile), reunion coordinator Cindy Sturrus Wolffis '80 and campus web manager Luke Robinson '96.

Alumni chapter events are coordinated by Donna Joyce while young alumni programs (including mentorship of the Student Alumni Association or SAA), Homecoming and Midsummer (Calvin's "vacation college") are handled by Barb Van Andel Hoogeboom '73. Alumni Board programs and the alumni web site are managed by Susan Buist '98.

Jim Van Wingerden '76 recently joined the staff as parent relations director, a position which is also linked to Calvin's Development Office Staff. Jim is assisted by parent relations assistant Ann Baker.

The whole office is pulled together and organized by Cindy Sturrus Wolffis '80, our office manager and Twylla Vandermolen Nieboer '62, our records coordinator. (Twylla sits at the front desk in the Spoelhof Center Lobby—maybe you have seen her!)

Meanwhile media relations is handled by director of media relations Phil de Haan '84. In addition, sports information falls under the bailiwick of media relations and is headed up by sports information director Jeff Febus '92. Staff writer Myrna De Vries Anderson '00 also helps to share Calvin stories.
