Program: Calvin Research Fellowships (September 20)

| What is Offered: | Leave of absence for one semester and interim term, or a reduction of teaching load (for up to 3 courses) |
| Who is Eligible: | Faculty members with a record of solid scholarly or artistic achievement (or unusual promise of such achievement) |

Program: Calvin Sabbatical Leave Program (September 20)

| What is Offered: | Leave of absence to engage in creative, scholarly, or professional activities of demonstrable worth to the applicant and the College |
| Who is Eligible: | Full-time faculty, rank of Assistant Professor or higher, with at least 6 years full-time service |

Program: C.C.C.S. Research Grants (October 15)
| Application Deadline: | October 15 of the year prior to the academic year of the project; applicants will be notified of funding by December 15 |
| What is Offered: | Partial funding for rigorous interdisciplinary scholarship of a distinctively Christian nature on important theoretical or practical issues |
| Who is Eligible: | Calvin faculty as individuals or in self-selected groups of two or more, with other scholars as appropriate |

Program: Interim Study Leave (November 20)
| Application Deadline: | November 20 of the year prior to the year of leave (late applications may be considered under special circumstances) |
| What is Offered: | Leave of absence during interim term for purposes that are mutually agreeable to the applicant, the department Chair, the Provost and the President |

Program: Alumni Association Service and Research Grants (January 2)
| Application Deadline: | Applications are due on or before Friday, January 2. They must be submitted to Susan Buist, program coordinator, or Michael Van Denend, Executive Director of the Alumni Association, the campus administrators for the Calvin Alumni Association Faculty Relations Committee. |
| What is Offered: | Awards up to $5,000 per project to support expenses related to faculty research or service projects. Preference is given to projects that do not fit the criteria of other Calvin grants. |

Program: McGregor Summer Research Fellowship Program (January 28)
| Application Deadline: | Abstracts of faculty proposals are due January 3 the summer before the program. A complete faculty application will be due at the end of interim, January 28. A list of faculty projects for the following summer will be posted on February 4. Student applications will then be accepted until February 15. |
| What is Offered: | Faculty may receive a stipend and the assistance of an undergraduate Fellow for a summer research project in the humanities and social sciences |

Program: Summer Calvin Research Fellowships (February 1)
| Application Deadline: | Summer CRF Applications must be submitted to the Office of the Dean for Research and Scholarship by February 1. The Dean will submit the applications to the Faculty Development Committee for summer stipends. These awards will be approved by the Professional Status Committee by March 31. |
| What is Offered: | Faculty may apply for stipends in one month or two month blocks of $1500 per month. Faculty may apply for summer research expenses. Maximum grant limit is $3000 per faculty member. This can be any combination of expenses and stipend. |
| Who is Eligible: | All faculty members holding regular (tenure-track) appointments are eligible to apply for CRF support. Exceptions are listed in the Handbook for Teaching Faculty. |

Program: Science Division Summer Fellowships (Early February)
| Application Deadline: | Faculty applications are due in early February. Once all faculty projects are collected, students apply to work on the proposed faculty projects. |

Program: CCCS Working/Reading Groups (April 15)
| Application Deadline: | The topics for the two Working Groups will be chosen by the Calvin Center faculty at the spring full-faculty meeting from a short list developed by the Governing Board of the Calvin Center. |
| What is Offered: | The purpose of these groups is to bring together an interdisciplinary collection of colleagues who together will concentrate upon a particular issue, problem, or topic by meeting monthly and discussing texts they have chosen and read in common. It is the goal of the Center to develop one working group in the humanities and one in the sciences, both broadly understood. It is the hope of the Governing Board that these Working Groups might be the source of projects fully funded by the Calvin Center for their subsequent year. |

Program: Center for Social Research Small Grants Program (No Deadline)

| What is Offered: | Applications are processed according to funds available |
| Who is Eligible: | This program makes limited funding available for social science research projects. Generally, awards above $1,000 are not given; in rare cases an award slightly above that amount might be approved for an exceptionally important project |

Program: Fund for the Scholarship of Engagement (No Deadline)

Program: Fund for the Improvement of Teaching (No Deadline)
| Application Deadline: | Applications are accepted at any time. Awards are granted twice a year. May 1 for projects or purchases for the first semester of each academic year. December 1 for projects or purchases for the second semester of each academic year. |
| What is Offered: | The maximum award is $1000.00, but we encourage you to be conservative in your request, so that we can fund as many projects as possible. |

Program: Provost’s Supplemental Travel Fund (No Deadline)
| Application Deadline: | The Provost’s Reserve Travel Fund exists to assist those faculty members who are engaged to speak at important professional meetings and whose departmental travel budgets are insufficient to cover the cost. |
| What is Offered: | All Faculty are eligible for one travel grant of up to $1,500 per academic year |
| Who is Eligible: | Funding is presently restricted to faculty participating (speaking or presenting) in the program; funding is not available to attend an event if you are not participating. Priority is also given to faculty participating in international programs over (in descending order) national meetings, regional meetings, state meetings, or local meetings of a professional nature |
