The Calvin College Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for a tenure-track position in statistics beginning September 2013, pending administrative approval.
The department seeks candidates who demonstrate strong commitment to excellence in both undergraduate teaching and scholarship. Applicants should have or be completing Ph.D. in statistics. Applicants with a Ph.D. in mathematics but strong interest and experience in teaching statistics will be considered. Rank is open.
About the department:
The department has 13 faculty members and graduates approximately 20 majors per year, about half of them in the secondary mathematics education program. Over the past three years, the department has sent 11 students to graduate school in mathematics, statistics, and applied mathematics. Over 500 students from a variety of academic programs take courses in statistics each year. Current faculty members are engaged in a variety of research and educational programs including three faculty members with research programs funded by the National Science Foundation and two faculty members with curricular and outreach programs funded by the NSF and by the Michigan Department of Education.
