Faculty Opening: Media Production

Full-time

The Department of Communication Arts & Sciences at Calvin College announces a full-time, tenure-track opening in Media Production and Digital Filmmaking, pending administrative approval.

Applicants whose expertise supports teaching in field production, multi-cam studio, audio, and/or post-production will be considered.  Persons with an additional interest in new media and/or screenwriting are especially encouraged to apply.  Flexible interims in January and May offer opportunities to teach more specifically in one's area of interest.

The candidate would help provide collaborative, visionary leadership for a rapidly growing Media Production major headquartered in the new 50,000-square-foot DeVos Communication Center.  Robust facilities, equipment, and resources support ambitious teamwork between faculty and students in documentary, narrative, and art/experimental projects — often of national or international scope.

This position begins on August 15, 2012, although we will also consider candidates who could begin on January 15, 2012. The search will remain open until December 1, 2011 or until filled.

About the Program

The program is part of the Communication Arts and Sciences Department, housed in a new building with a state-of-the-art audio and film production facilities.

Requirements

The successful candidate will hold an MFA or other terminal degree, or have significant professional media experience.
