Gather at the Table

Gather at the Table: The Healing Journey of a Daughter of Slavery and a Son of the Slave Trade is the story of two everyday people from diverse backgrounds who are on a mission to overcome the trauma of America’s legacy of slavery and the lingering effects of present-day racism.

Calvin is pleased to announce that co-authors Thomas Norman DeWolf and Sharon Leslie Morgan will be at Calvin on November 14, 2012 to share their story of connecting with others across racial lines, exploring healing through dialogue, ritual, and apology, and actively seeking to heal the pervasive, present-day, structural wounds of racial inequality and injustice.

As a preface to the workshops and presentations DeWolf and Morgan will be making on campus, the Office for Multicultural Affairs will be showing the Emmy-nominated documentary Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North, in which DeWolf is featured.
