Multicultural Curriculum and Research Transformation Colloquia

About the Colloquia

The third annual Multicultural Curriculum Transformation and Research Colloquium will highlight multicultural curriculum theory and practice. Participants in the colloquium will either develop a new course syllabus or transform an existing course syllabus to include more multicultural content. Topics for the colloquium will focus on best practices for broadening and enriching the curriculum by re-envisioning goals, content, teaching strategies, assessment, and classroom interactions with a multicultural lens.

  • Multicultural landscape at Calvin College-the cultures at play in our classrooms and how to effectively use them in teaching and learning.
  • Discipline-specific multicultural content enrichment ideas.
  • Culturally enriched teaching techniques.
  • Effective Intercultural and cross-cultural communication.
  • Strategies for communication in conflict.
