CCE Models
CCE can be done in many ways. Faculty are encouraged to think creatively about how other courses might evolve into CCE courses – either with an integral CCE piece or with an optional CCE piece.
Here are some models of CCE implementation showing the variety of approaches possible. You can click on the course for a link to the actual proposal.
- Nursing 381
- ”Cross-cultural Engagement with Families” (an on-campus course where CCE is integrally woven through the entire Nursing curriculum)
- Geography 242
- “The Geography of Africa” (an on-campus course where CCE is an optional piece for students who want to do it)
- IDIS W14
- “Costa Rica Rainforest Outward Bound Program” (an off-campus Interim course)
- IDIS 290
- Student-initiated course
- Service Learning CCE
- Course focused on integrating community service into curriculum
There are also many off-campus semester programs, and an off-campus Interim course that have CCE designation. For a complete list of approved courses click here.
The CCE Committee is especially eager to receive on-campus Interim courses that would meet the CCE requirement.
