June 16-17 | 9:00 AM-3:00 PM | DeVos Communication Center Room 140
Leaders: Gail Heffner and Janel Curry

This year the CEAP Faculty Development Workshop will highlight two aspects of our work.  The first day of the workshop will focus on curriculum development and we will consider ways to integrate environmental sustainability across the curriculum.  We will hear updates from faculty who have had a CEAP component in their courses this past year and we will brainstorm potential new areas.  We particularly invite faculty who have not been involved in CEAP in the past to join us as we explore ways to weave sustainability into Calvin's existing curriculum.

On the second day of the workshop we will focus on the Plaster Creek Watershed and will consider ways to deepen our impact on improving the watershed.  This can involve research, curriculum development, or a public education initiative.  Several community partners will join us as we plan for Calvin's strategic involvement and develop a plan for getting a grant to support this work.

The CEAP workshop will take place on June 16-17 from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM in the DeVos Communication Center Room 140 with lunch provided. Participants will receive a small stipend for their involvement.  Questions?  Contact Gail Heffner or Jan Curry

“What are Kent County's fastest growing occupations and in what industries?”
“What is the long term outlook for the region?”
“What are the socio-economic characteristics of Grand Rapids?”
Students are sometimes asked to explore local and state resources as part of their research assignments.  While you may be familiar with the large national databanks, such as the Census, Departments of Education and Labor, etc., there are many more sources that take a deeper dive right down to the neighborhood level.  Whether it is to guide your students or support your own work, you are invited to come and find out the best local resource discovery strategies and, in particular, identify a host of data on West Michigan, including economic trends, demographics, education and health.
