A two-week group will be implemented that explores the possible options for processing organic wastes at Calvin. The purpose of this exercise will be to increase student awareness of how wastes are disposed at Calvin and to expose them to alternative practices. This work has the potential to be useful to campus planners and other administrators, and may provide important baseline information for future designs, proposals or projects. Five small groups each investigated one source of organic waste. Those five sources were: sewage, lawn and garden debris, waste water, food waste, and construction waste.
Each working group will be subdivided into smaller groups to address the same two topics: 1) What is the situation at Calvin?; and 2) What are some models that differ from Calvin?
