Calvin Student Facts
Calvin tied for first with Albion College in a state-wide math competition, the Michigan Autumn Take Home (MATH) Challenge competition for 2001. This was the eighth year the competition has been held and the sixth time a Calvin team has come in first. For the second year in a row two Calvin students have been awarded prestigious Goldwater Scholarships. Junior Abbie Gosselink and sophomore Brad Veldkamp are among the 309 recipients selected from a field of over 1,000 applicants nationwide. The Student Activities Office helps Calvin students discern both positive and negative messages from the best and the brightest artists of popular culture. In 2001-2002 the SAO sponsored 20 major concerts, six movies and ten coffee house concerts.
