Campus Visit Calendar

To register youth and adults, contact the Office of Pre-College Programs at (616) 526-6749 or precollege@calvin.edu at least one week prior to the activity unless otherwise noted. An Activity Log is to be submitted for all Campus Visit events attended by youth and adults. Please be prepared to submit the Activity Log on the day of the event.

All events are held from 7:00-8:30 p.m. unless otherwise indicated.
These events are only open to families from partner churches.

Siblings Weekend
(Fri-Sat, 23rd-24th)

Boys and girls will be paired with Calvin students for this overnight stay as an introduction to Calvin College. Students will participate in the many planned activities for the visiting siblings.

The Making of a TV Show
(Tues, 13th)

Students will tour the Television Studio facilities at Calvin College and have a chance to make their own simulated TV appearance. Studio staff will teach students how TV shows are made from filming to editing. Students will watch what they've created in the Bytwerk Video Theater. Limit: 25

College Dream Team (Sat)
This event is designed for all students and their parents to learn more about how best to prepare for college. It offers year-by-year checklists, information on applying to colleges, standardized tests, financial aid procedures and university costs, campus visits, preparation needed in high school, and other resources for students and parents.

How to Grow a Rock (Wed, 14th)
Students will learn all about the fascinating world of rocks -- how they are formed and how they break down -- through hands-on activities. This event will be held at the Bunker Interpretive Center and led by Cheryl Hoogewind, Preserve Manager, along with her student team. Limit: 25

Building for the Future (Wed, 14th)
This activity will ask students to build a replica of a particular structure using only their creativity and some basic materials. Calvin engineering students will also share about some of their own senior projects and how they hope to serve the Kingdom of God with their inventions.

Unlock the Future (Tues, 6th)
Using a short interest inventory quiz, this activity will help students assess their own God-given talents and interests. The P2P Leadership Team will then lead students in small groups through an exploration of the careers they might find most stimulating and fulfilling based on their own unique personalities and strengths.

Adventures in Art (Mon, 23rd)
The P2P Leadership Team and Calvin art students will lead youth in hands-on art activities that will increase their appreciation for art in its many forms and support their own unique artistic gifts.

Muscle Mania (Wed, 25th)
Calvin exercise science majors, along with the P2P team, will lead students in various physical activities in order to teach participants about the different muscle groups of the body. Students will also be introduced to the wide variety of careers having to do with athletics and exercise science. (Fieldhouse, West Gym)

Swim Night (Tues, 10th)

Reality Store (Wed, 11th)
The P2P Leadership Team will lead youth in this activity. The Reality Store program simulates life on many different levels so students can see how today's choices affect their future. We will also compare the cost of living with or without a college degree. A talk-back session will be held at the end of the event. (Common Lecture Hall)
