College Positive at Calvin

Calvin’s office of pre-college programs (PCP) and the service-learning center have partnered together

(1) to integrate the College Positive Volunteerism Framework (CPV) into service-learning activities and

(2) to extend the Excel ACT Tutoring & Mentoring Program from one to five Grand Rapids public high schools.

CPV enhances and expands our work in PCP by supporting and increasing the number of Calvin staff and students who communicate the vision of college as an achievable goal to all students, and especially to students from groups under-represented in higher education.

Funding to support this grant is provided by Michigan Campus Compact (MCC), College Access Challenge Grant funds and the King-Chavez-Parks Initiative's GEAR UP/College Day (GU/CD) Program within the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth.
