How can I post my on-campus job opening?
There are 3 ways that you can post a job. You can leave a telephone message on our voicemail by calling 616-526-7000; you can fax us your job description to 616-526-7185; or you can fill out our Post A Job form online.
Why can't I see my job posting?
Only current Calvin College students have access to the job postings. Therefore, community members, faculty and staff, and parents are not able to see the job postings.
What forms do I need to turn in once I've hired a new student worker?
Each student worker needs an e-card sent in by his/her supervisor and needs to complete tax forms BEFORE he/she begins to work. The e-card tells Student Employment Services important information like when the student begins work, from what account to pay him/her, suggested wage, and his/her supervisor and alternative supervisor. New hires need to fill out tax forms before they begin work. Once the student has completed their tax forms he/she will receive an "Authorization to Begin Work" to give to you. When you have received an "Authorization to Begin Work" from the Student Employment Services then your student may begin working. To complete tax paperwork, please remind you student worker that they will need to bring original acceptable documents to show.
What information should I tell my student worker on his/her first day of work?
The first day of work is the perfect time to inform your student worker what is expected of her/him as a student worker. Here is a list of questions you may want to cover before they begin their new job:
1. How should she/he dress for work? 2. If she/he is sick, how should they let you know they will not be at work? 3. How would you like her/him to answer the phone at work? 4. How does she/he fill out their timesheet and when is it due? 5. Where and when should they pick up their paycheck?
If you have more questions, please stop by Student Employment Services in the Human Resources Office (370 Spoelhof) or contact Karen Hollebeek at (616)526-7001.
