Supervisors, please use the following list as a reference of items to cover with your new employee:

  • Prior to your new employee's start date, visit the CIT website for the account application form and information on new employee account set-up. Allow 3-5 days to process computer access.
  • Order business cards.
  • Explain Knightvision, including login information, and review its uses. It's always nice to point out Calvin eDeals!
  • Explain department policies and procedures.
  • Locate the restrooms.
  • Review purchasing office supplies-- Corporate Express Office Products and how to make departmental purchases at the Campus Store.
  • Explain the vacation policy/sick policy/travel policy and how you record time away from work with your department.
  • Discuss how to hire student workers (if applicable).
  • Review departmental copying and services available through Printing Services.
  • Review how to use office equipment (copier, printer, fax machines).
  • Explain vouchers for paying bills, requesting internal checks, web time entry (students) and timesheets (staff) or see Financial Services website.
  • Discuss 90-Day Review and Performance Development Plan.
  • Establish e-mail places in departmental distribution lists if necessary.
  • Give a tour of your building and introduce the new employee to key people in nearby departments.
