You will have the opportunity to meet with an HR representative, generally our Orientation and Training Coordinator, to receive details about what you need to know and do during your first weeks at Calvin.

What I need to do:

• Receive a Calvin ID card – An HR representative will explain the uses of the ID card which include:
  • Library privileges
  • PE facilities privileges
  • Entry to sporting events (free)
  • Concerts - often a reduced rate for employees
  • Debit card to food locations on campus – visit Food Services office for more information
  • Keyless entry to some buildings
  • Campus Store Discount (15% off non-textbook items)
• Receive a Vehicle Registration permit – We will visit Campus Safety with you to complete the vehicle registration. An HR representative will explain parking policies.
• Complete Safety Training at Calvin College.

What I need to know:

• An HR representative will explain Calvin-News, other Calvin listservs and instructions for joining.
• Tour the staff/faculty dining facilities on campus.
• Introduce Healthy Habits and review PE facility hours.
• Tour Mail Services and Printing Services, HR representative will explain how departmental and personal mail is handled.
• An HR representative will explain the phone system and make sure new staff member has the latest Names & Faces Directory.
• An HR representative will explain the uses of GroupWise for email and calendar functions.
• Talk about Chapel Services.
• Introduce the Organizational Chart.
• Injured at work? here's what to do.
• Physical Plant work request and driving/car rentals
• Building Evacuation/assistance
• New Staff Orientation Program
