Committment

Calvin College, founded in 1876, has been rooted in and strongly committed to a Reformed perspective of community and academic practice. Calvin’s open and joyful expression of its distinctive, historic commitments to both Reformed education and Reformed community are central to its mission.

Calvin expects its faculty members to demonstrate their commitment to the Reformed faith tradition and to Christian education through their involvement in church and school. As part of this commitment, Calvin faculty members are normally required to provide their children with Christian schooling.

As a result of this tradition and these efforts, Calvin is looked to in the academy as a model for leadership in Christian education.
