Sessions will be held from 12:00 p.m.-1:15 p.m. in the Commons Annex Alumni Board Room. We'll supply beverages - please feel free to bring your lunch! Each session will count as 0.5 Healthy Habits credit.
September 11: Mental Health and the Family: When someone you love has a mental illness
This session will provide an overview of various groups of mental illness and share some ways to cope with the stress brought on when a member of your family is struggling with a mental illness. The session will be presented by Jim Vander May, LMSW Pine Rest SW Clinic (Grandville). Jim has worked in mental health most of his life, the last 20 years as a clinical social worker. He leads Family Connection, a support group that meets at the SW Clinic on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 5:30 p.m. It is a group for families affected by the stress of a member's symptoms of mental illness.
November 21: Keeping the Holidays Happy
It sure seems like the happiest time of the year can quickly become the busiest, and sometimes even the saddest, time of the year and before we know it, the joy of the season is lost in the commotion and loss of the season. If holiday tasks are becoming drudgery and you want to recapture some of the joy of this time of year, then come to Keeping the Holidays Happy. This will be a practical in-service with relevant skills delivered in an approachable and enjoyable manner. Let’s learn and have some fun! More information coming soon. Michael J.
