Named After:
Henry Beets (1869-1947): Editor of "The Banner" (the magazine of the Christian Reformed Church) for 25 years.
Johanna Veenstra (1894-1933): Served as a Christian Reformed missionary in Nigeria for thirteen years.
Claim To Fame:
Beets is a male hall, but First Beets was a women's floor for a few years (a unique but workable situation). It's now back to being a male floor. The building has a traditional "Yak Day" (no one is quite sure what it is), and BV is one of the two original residence halls on the Knollcrest campus.
