Travel health services
If you are a Calvin student, faculty or staff member participating in a off-campus program abroad, health services can ensure you have the vaccinations you need for your trip.
Do your research
Find out what vaccinations you will need for travel to a particular area of the world at the Center for Disease Control.
Once you know what vaccines you will need, check out our list of vaccines available in health services.
Schedule an appointment
Call or e-mail health services to schedule an appointment with our travel nurses four to six weeks before your trip, or as soon as you know your travel plans. Your consultation will take approximately 30 minutes.
Complete the travel health module
If you are traveling with a Calvin-sponsored program, make sure to complete the travel health module. Important information regarding your travel abroad is covered in this presentation. You will be required to print a certificate at the end of the session. Bring this to health services and schedule an appointment.
Go to your consultation
At your appointment, a nurse will discuss required and recommended immunizations for your trip. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions about travel safety, common medications, etc.
Health services maintains your vaccination records including those you submitted when you enrolled at Calvin College. If you have received vaccinations elsewhere since enrolling, please remember to bring along records of those vaccinations.
After you return from your trip
We advise you to have a tuberculin skin test three months after you return from traveling to countries where tuberculosis is prevalent.
