Canadian students »

While we recognize that Canadian students have provincially-subsidized health care administered by their own government, the college feels strongly that the Canadian provincial plans offer only limited coverage for health care received in the United States. We therefore require Canadian students to carry supplemental insurance in order to waive out of enrollment in the Student Health Insurance Plan.

International students »

Health care costs in the United States can be very expensive. That is why the college sponsors its own affordable student health insurance plan. This plan is designed to help pay the high costs of hospital, surgical, and other medical expenses while studying in the United States. All international students are required to enroll in KnightCare in order to meet the college's minimum insurance standard.

Eligibility

Calvin graduates: Students enrolled in KnightCare who graduate in May are still covered under the plan through August 14th of the policy plan year.

Spouses and dependents: Coverage may also be purchased for spouses and dependent child(ren) under age 19.

Students enrolled in parents' plan: Many families decide to supplement their current policy with the Student Health Insurance Plan, especially if their HMO reduces benefits while the insured is out of area. KnightCare will be your secondary insurance. When filing a claim, simply submit the claim and associated receipts to your family insurance. After the primary insurance has made payment, submit the claim to StudentResources for the excess amount (for any covered accident or illness).
