About Calvin's health services
Calvin’s health services is an on-campus service that exists to support and enhance students’ health. Our physicians and nurse practitioners address acute and chronic health problems.
Who we serve
We serve any student enrolled at Calvin College, or full-time student enrolled at Kuyper College. We regret we are unable to serve Calvin staff, visitors and graduates.
Services offered
Health services provides assessment and treatment for acute and chronic illnesses and injuries, as well as:
- physical exams
- women's health services
- STD testing
- support for smoking cessation
- allergy shots
- vaccination services
- consultation regarding insomnia, weight gain/loss, stress, addiction, health concerns affecting academic functioning and more.
Making appointments
Health services operates like a primary care office and, in general, appointments are necessary to receive services. If a student has a serious problem, we make every effort to see them promptly or refer them to an urgent care center.
Payment for services
Charges for services may be paid with cash, check, applied to a student’s college miscellaneous account, or billed to KnightCare insurance if the student carries it. Students with private insurance will receive an itemized statement that can be used to file a claim with their insurance company.
Student health insurance
Partnering with StudentResources, a United HealthCare insurance company, we provide a comprehensive health insurance plan designed with a student's needs and budget in mind. Students covered by KnightCare have access to an extensive network of health care providers in the Grand Rapids area and nationwide.
Immunizations and travel health services
Health services provides vaccination services for students whose records are incomplete or for those who are studying abroad.
