The Federal Perkins Loan is funded by the U.S.Department of Education who also sets regulations and policies governing this loan fund. Payments made on Perkins Loans are returned to the Perkins fund to be lent again to new borrowers. The Current Perkins interest rate is 5% APR.

For Current Calvin Students:
During the Spring term of your Senior year you will be asked to complete an exit interview online. If you have both a Federal Perkins Loan and a Federal Direct Loan you must complete both exit interviews. During the course of the exit interview you will be given information concerning your rights and responsibilities as a Perkins loan recipient. Also, you will receive individualized information regarding your specific loan. If you are transferring from Calvin or do not plan to return it is important that you let the Perkins loans officer know regarding this. Your Perkins loan officer at Calvin is Jason Porte and he can be reached at (616) 526-6078 or email loansofficer@calvin.edu.
For students who have left Calvin:
Calvin College is contracted with University Accounting Services out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin to handle the entire process of answering inquiries, sending deferment and cancellation forms, and making address changes, etc. They can be reached by calling University Accounting Services at 1-800-999-6227 and asking for the Calvin College representative. Please direct all inquiries, correspondence, deferment and cancellation forms to:
