Visa Issues/Immigration Law Restrictions

The matrix below provides guidance on whether Calvin can make a payment to a foreign visitor. Immigration law restricts these types of payments.

Please direct any questions regarding proper visa status to the Human Resources Office at least four months prior to arriving at Calvin College.

Contact Financial Services PRIOR to making any agreements about payments.

1. Calvin will reimburse the business expenses (transportation, meals, lodging) for short term visitors as long as the voucher includes business purpose and original receipts supporting the expense.

2. F-1 Practical Training: Individual must have a current employment authorization card (EAD). F-1 Curricular Training. Individual must have a stamp on I-20 authorizing curricular training.
