New for 2007-2008... The 50 Block Plan!

The 50 block plan gives students not living in the residence halls 50 meals at both Commons and Knollcrest Dining Hall anytime during the semester. This plan gives students living outside the residence halls the advantage of a flexible meal plan.

  • The 50 Block Plan is $325*
  • Additional 10 blocks are available at $65 each

Unlike the 10- 15- or 21-meal plans which must be used within a one week period, block plan meals are available to use at any time throughout the semester, with no limit on any specific day or week. Block plan meals may be used by the purchaser and his/her guests. Additional blocks of 10 meals may be purchased for $65 each if desired.

No More Lost Meals

With the 50 Block Plan you can use your 50 meals whenever you want during the semester. Use your meals for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it’s all up to you. There’s no limit to the number of meals you can eat on a specific day or week.

Bring A Friend

With the 50 Block Plan not only can you get a meal for yourself but you can also use your meals to treat a friend.

Need More Than 50 Meals?

If you need more meals at any time in the semester, you can purchase additional blocks of 10 meals ($65 each) from the dining services office located in the commons building.

Café Locations

For your convenience you may use your meals at Johnny’s Café, Spoelhof Café, or from DeVos Grab-and-Go. You get to select from several different predetermined meal exchange combination specials.

Refund/Cancellation Policy

The 50 Block Plan is not refundable after the first week of either semester, and unused meals at the end of each semester will be forfeited (Fall Semester plans will expire at the end of Interim). However, students discontinuing from Calvin College during the semester will receive a prorated refund based on the number of days remaining in the semester or a refund for the balance of unused meals, whichever is less.

Meal Plans

A traditional meal plan is included as part of the room and board costs for every student living in the residence halls. First year students can choose 21 or 15 meal plans for first semester, and then a 10, 15 or 21 in subsequent semesters. No need to worry about purchasing and preparing your own food, or washing your own dishes afterwards - leave it up to us!

Bonus Bucks

All traditional meal plans (10, 15, or 21 meals per week) now include Bonus Bucks which may be used anytime, at any dining location on campus. Bonus Bucks are included in the cost of the meal plan and range from $25 - $75 dollars per-semester, depending on the meal plan selected. Treat a guest to Sunday brunch at Commons Dining Hall, buy a latte at the Fish House after enjoying a concert, or grab a late dinner at Johnny’s Café.

Dining Dollars

As an alternative to Calvin Credit, students, faculty, and staff may set up a Dining Dollars account with Calvin Dining Services. Open an account with as little as $25 dollars and use it any time at all dining locations. Your purchase is subtracted from your account total.

Calvin Credit

Eat now and pay later! Though we take cash, you won't need it in order to eat on campus. All students can now make any dining purchase at any dining location simply by using their ID card. Financial Services will send you a monthly statement reflecting your charges. If you don't participate in a meal plan, consider using your Calvin Credit for an "all you care to eat" meal in either Dining Hall, or endless ala cart options at Johnny's Cafe, Spoelhof Cafe, DeVos Grab N' Go or The Fish House. If you do have a meal plan but want to make an additional food purchase at another dining location, you can use your Calvin Credit.
