Academic Scholarships
The academic profiles provided below are a guideline, not a guarantee, for each award. Students who started Calvin prior to the fall of 2008 should refer to current student scholarship information.
Within each award category, the amount of the scholarship is determined by careful consideration of the student's academic record, completed admission file, and written essays on the application for admission.
| National Merit Scholarships |
$10,000 per year, for four years
- National Merit Scholarships are awarded to students who are selected as finalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Selection of finalists is publicly announced in late May.
- Calvin awards these scholarships to students who designate Calvin as their first choice college with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
- National Merit Corporate Scholarships may be supplemented by Calvin so that students receive the total $10,000 award as a National Merit Scholar.
- Total award value: $40,000

| Trustee Scholarships |
$10,000 per year
- Students must be admitted by February 1 to be considered for this scholarship
- Students considered will be in the top 3% of Calvin's admitted students. While GPA and test scores are important considerations, the selection process includes a full review of the student's completed admission file and the quality and content of the students's written response on the application for admission, detailing involvements, leadership, honors and diversity experiences.
- In most cases, recipients will have initially been awarded a Presidential Scholarship. The Trustee Scholarship will replace the previously awarded scholarship.
- Students will be notified of their selection by March 1.
- Renewable for four years with Calvin GPA of 3.50
- Total award value: $40,000*

Presidential, Dean's, Faculty Honors, Honors,
and Knollcrest Scholarships |
$1,000 - $7,500 per year
- Use the academic scholarship calculator to determine which scholarship you may be eligible to receive.
- Actual awards are determined by the Scholarship Committee and recipients are notified soon after they are admitted.

Diversity Awards
Selection is based on students' academic record, leadership potential, cross-cultural experiences, and ethnic and socio-econimic background as demonstrated in the student's admission file, including written essays. These awards may be given in addition to the academic scholarships listed above.

$6,000 per year
- Typical profile of students considered:
- Strong academic record and granted regular admission to calvin
- Significant involvements, leadership, cross-cultural experiences and honors
- North American ethnic minority student or a majority student from a culturally diverse background
- Renewable for four years with a Calvin GPA of 2.50
- Total award value: $24,000*

$3,000 per year
- Typical profile of students considered:
- GPA of 3.0 and granted regular admission to Calvin
- Did not receive the Mosaic Award
- North American ethnic minority student or a majority student from a culturally diverse background
- Renewable for four years with a Calvin GPA of 2.00
- Total award value: $12,000*
