Calvin College is pleased to offer scholarships as one way to recognize and encourage academic excellence. For maximum consideration for all scholarships, applicants should be admitted to Calvin by February 1. No further scholarship application is required for the general academic scholarships listed blow. Named scholarships funded by donors or departmental scholarships may have other application requirements.
The scholarship criteria listed is applicable for students entering Calvin in the fall of 2009 or later.

Academic Scholarships
New students are automatically considered for academic scholarships based on a careful review of their application materials. Award notices are sent to selected students shortly after they are admitted to Calvin.

Diversity Awards
The following awards are given to new students to advance the diversity of the student body at Calvin. Selection is based on information gleaned from the student's application for admission regarding academic record, leadership potential, cross-cultural experiences and ethnic background. These awards may be given in addition to the academic scholarships listed above.

Transfer Scholarships
Admitted transfer students are considered for academic scholarships in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $7,500 with selection based on the same criteria used for first-year scholarships along with the applicant's college GPA. Typically, a previous college GPA of 3.00 or higher is required to be considered for academic scholarships. Transfer students are also considered for Multicultural Awards of $3,000 per year.
To receive maximum consideration, transfer applicants should be admitted to Calvin by May 1.
A transfer student's scholarship will be renewed after completing two semesters. A Calvin GPA of at least 3.00 to 3.50 is required for renewal, depending on the scholarship level.
